Bret Jensens Death Valley Jubilee
http://www.myspace.com/bretjensensongs

On a graceful day early in 2008 several friends were invited, by Aaron Gilman of Revolt Music Unlimited, to spend some time together at a recording studio in California. 7 of the 8 invited attendees arrived, one at a time on horseback, mule, buggies, and wagons. We ate, drank and made merry. Soon enough there were microphones on stands, thanks to Paul Bessone, and music in the air. A red light that said "recording" silenced the onlookers. All distractions had been tucked away when Robert "Doc" Dill counted, 1, 2, 3, 4. Jeff "Jack Rabbit" LeGore’s bass groaned a low moan and the guitars of Bret "Nevada" Jensen and L. Cedeno grabbed the voices about to be heard. First to sing was Joan "Juanes" Jones, then accompanied by L.Cedeno and "Nevada". Pretty soon it was the organ sounds coming from John "Bird" Bird’s vintage Fender that stopped the hearts long enough to take a breath. And a band was born, Bret Jensen’s Death Valley Jubilee.

Courtney Chambers
http://www.myspace.com/thecourtneychambersband

WHO? C O U R T N E Y C H A M B E R S I always knew I wanted to do music. From the time I was born I was screaming a melody. When I was a little girl, my father would tell people I was going to be a singer one day, I would emphatically interject with “No dad, I’m going to be a music artist!”. Somehow even at that age, being called a singer sounded like I was going to end up a lounge act in Vegas and I knew I wanted to do more than just sing music, I wanted to create it. I wrote my first song when I was 10 and continued to write throughout high school, but had little interest in getting involved in choir or band, I sort of kept to myself musically. When I went to college I suffered from temporary insanity and thought I’d go to school to become a psychologist, but after dating a nutjob, I decided music was my destiny and went for my dream and studied music at Fullerton College as a voice major. I’m really glad I changed my mind. In 1996, I started performing locally throughout LA and OC and in 2001 released my first record “Imperfect Like Me”. After a year, I already had the music for my next record and decided to put together a band for this one and in 2004 I released my sophomore album “Higher Places”. But by the time I had released the record, so much music for the next record was pouring out of me already and I was anxious to get back to the studio. This time I recruited the help of Sean Hoffman (of American Music Club) to produce my next endeavor.. I was stretched musically, emotionally and mentally, but every drop of blood was well worth it and in 2007 released my 3rd album “Bigger & Brighter”. With the aid of my good friends and bandmates, Jeff Hawley on bass, Mel Flores on drums and percussion as well as Sean on guitar and keys, the songs came together and came to life. Those who have moved me and influenced my work over the years: Patty Griffin, Sarah McLachlan, Neil Young, Jeff Buckley, Aretha Franklin, CCR, Our Lady Peace, Peter Gabriel, Beethoven, Tori Amos, Sheryl Crow, and Radiohead just to name a few. So what are my plans? To keep making music until the wheels fall off.

Crescendo

Crescendo was formed in 2004 including singer/songwriter, Kelvin Sabando, bassist, Altair Padilla, and drummer, Adam Cuadras. Since then they have undergone many obstacles obtaining a solid guitarist. Growing and learning the basics of the music industry, they now have a solid band including their newest member, Thomas Pena, on lead guitar. Their sound covers: pop melodies/harmonies, Latin and experimental bass/drum rhythms, and heavy/experimental, funk rock guitar with classical/Spanish overtones. They are influenced by a wide array of music. They have been compared to the Mars Volta, Muse, Incubus and Rage Against the Machine. They are currently in process of recording for their first album. A self-produced, currently untitled 11-track LP. More information coming soon!

Dirty Little Billy
http://www.myspace.com/dirtylittlebilly

I am a singer/songwriter in L.A. I have lived here for five years and I really like it. The aspects of L.A. that upset people and intimidate people do not have an affect on me. Everyone warned me of the competition that exists in L.A.; it doesn't shake me, I don't consider it, ever!!! I attended music school for a short time and learned some valuable skills, but for the most part, I realized how hard it is for us to be ourselves. It seems as though we are all turning into each other. I know how hard it is to be different in this world. I think we try too hard. I write songs that are just my songs and it's good... to me. I write on the piano but I do not play well enough to perform. I have been lucky enough to find incredible musicians that helped me form the band Dirty Little Billy.

Henry Thomas
http://www.myspace.com/henrythomasmusic

Henry Thomas wrote songs, sang, and played guitar for the San Antonio, Texas band 'The Blue Heelers' from the mid to late 90's. Although the band was never signed, their self produced album 'Twister' was warmly received and enjoyed statewide radio play. Moving to Los Angeles in 1998, the band called it quits but Thomas continued to write and record songs. In 1998, his song 'Truckstop Coffee' recorded with the Blue Heelers appeared on V2's soundtrack to the film 'Niagara, Niagara' which Henry Thomas also performed in as an actor. In 2003, Thomas worked with Nikki Sudden on the music for Mika Kaurismaki's film 'Honey Baby' which featured four original songs written and performed by Henry Thomas as the fictitious musician Tom Brackett. An album was in the works, but their collaboration was ended by Nikki Sudden's untimely death in 2006. Thomas continues to live and play in the L.A. area.

Joyce Lee
http://www.myspace.com/joycelee

Most often when you hear the phrase "singer/songwriter," one thinks of a soulful, emotional and independent artist expressing themselves on the acoustic guitar or piano in coffee shops or small clubs. Joyce Lee, on the other hand, is a different kind of singer/songwriter. Although Joyce was classically trained to play the piano and sung in church choirs since she was 5 years old, Joyce Lee decided to pursue a different musical pursuit after she fell in love with rock n' roll. At 16 years old, she began teaching herself to play the guitar and starting writing her first songs - primarily from a punk rock influence. However, because of her diverse background, Joyce's influences range from not only punk rock but to jazz/blues, classical, pop and even metal. But what really draws other into the music Joyce Lee writes and performs is her powerful, expressive and unique singing voice.

Judy Valencerina
http://www.myspace.com/listentojudy

"Judy Valencerina shouts out from the small plains of Oxnard, California. After classical piano training from the age of 5 through high school, she finally found "home" when she sat down and wrote the music herself. She hid behind a piano through different jazz combos, and eventually learned something was missing: her own voice. While her playing style is influenced by jazz, Judy's songwriting and voice have a simple and honest pop feel. She performs solo on vocals and keys, and more recently as a trio with Mel Flores on drums and Nick Rosen on bass. Her debut album entitled "Halfway" is due out end of SUMMER 2008."

Lumis
http://www.inlifewespin.com/

Lumis believes that the art of music is alive and thriving. Born in Minneapolis and raised in San Diego, he has been playing records since he was old enough to say "turntables." As co-founder of Sweet New Style Productions, he threw wild & crazy parties all over California (from Diego to the Bay, yo!). In 2001, Lumis captured the attention of Industrial-Pop sensation Meg Lee Chin and joined her band, the Meg Lee Chin Experience. After a move to Los Angeles, a few years and a national tour with The Experience, and a guest appearance on the 2002 Pigface album "Easy Listening..." (Meg’s mates on Ministry mastermind Martin Atkins’ label), Lumis felt it was time to get serious about the music game. Following numerous collaborations with some of the finest up-and-coming artists in the local scene, he settled into his weekly residencies spinning records at famed LA clubs The Gig on Melrose and later, The Room in Hollywood. He also co-hosted the Beat Battle at REHAB Records’ MicRAPhone Fiend twice a month.

M.S. Garvey's Letter to the President
http://www.letterstotheprez.com/

M.S. Garvey has composed over 130 letters (and counting) to President George W. Bush. In the mysterious Courtyard’s inner sanctum and under the watchful gaze of his cat Mr. Pickles, he writes the letters on his human-powered typewriter and mails the originals to the White House. The letters express Garvey’s thoughts on topics from administration policies, the direction of our country and the current wars, to charity, peace and the power of taking baths.

He held the first live readings in the summer of 2002 at O’Brien’s Pub in Venice, and then went on to perform selected letters in Los Angeles, Grand Rapids, Chicago and Berlin, as well as various cities in Romania. M.S. Garvey also participated in the 2004 Republican National Convention by staging readings outside of Madison Square Garden during convention events.

Over time, the show has evolved into a collaborative performance piece that defies description, with a rotating cast of accomplished musicians. Garvey, a charismatic presence and expansive performer, proclaims the letters against a sonic backdrop of improvised music that beckons the sounds of old New Orleans, the Kansas plains and the dark bars of Los Angeles. Full of humor, insight and passion, these rare performances are not to be missed.

After the sudden breakup of their current band; Shocat, Moran, and Horton quickly regrouped with close friends Mertz and Carstensen to push their creativity in a new direction. They aimed to compose music that took heavy influence from the psychedelic and progressive movements of the 60’s and 70’s and infuse it with more modern indie and post-rock elements.

Guided by nature, the LA-based band, The Lynx Technique, finds ways to attune their animal instincts to this electro-charged terrasphere (aka planet earth!). The band's name was inspired by the endangered North American Lynx and the spirit the animal represents. Ever-striving to strike a balance between the kinetic and the potential, their sound is inspired not only by what can be identified by the senses but also by tapping into what is beyond sensing and comprehension. With nature as their guide, they allow themselves to be led to by its power with every step.
